School Rules
·
IHSAA and IGHSAU will be used except as noted
below:

Bench
Decorum – coaches will remain seated at all times except for special situations.
3.
Timing
·
All games will be played with a running clock
-
The clock will stop for each dead ball situation
in the last minute of each half
·
All games will be divided into 2 halves
-
8th grade games will consist of
18 minute halves
-
7th, 6th, 5th,
and 4th grade games will consist of 16 minute halves
·
4th Grade only – in the final
minute OF THE GAME, after a dead ball (does not include after a made basket) the
clock will not start until possession is established in the front court.
4.
Overtime
·
If the score is tied at the end of regulation,
there will be ONE, 2-minute overtime. If the score remains tied at the end of the
overtime, there will be a free throw shoot-out involving five players from each
team shooting alternate shots.
5.
3–point
filed goals
·
3-point field goals will be allowed in the
7th and 8th grade leagues.
6.
Time-outs
·
Each team will be allowed 3 time outs per
game
·
A time-out may be called by the coach or
a player on the court.
-
There will be times, in the regular course
of the game, that the official will not be able to hear the coach call a time-out.
In this case, the coach must have a player on the floor gain the attention of the
official to request a time-out.
7.
Free
Throws
·
On all shooting fouls, ONE free throw will
be allowed. A made free throw will be worth 2 points. In the last minute of each
half, while the clock is stopped, two shots will be awarded on shooting fouls.
·
Double Bonus free throws will be awarded
anytime during the game and only when the team committing the fouls has committed
10 team fouls during that half. 2 shots will be shot in the last minute
of each half and “one for two” will be shot if the Double Bonus condition is reached
before the last minute. The will be no “one-and-one”.
·
The free throw line for 4th graders
will be set at 13’. All other leagues will shoot from the regular distance.
8.
Full
court pressing defense
·
4th grade – there will be no full
court press allowed, unless agreed to by both coaches prior to the game. The coaches
must discuss this and bring it to the attention of the score table only when both
coaches have agreed to the change.
·
5th grade – full court press will
be allowed only in the second half. Again, unless both coaches agree to change.
·
6th, 7th, and 8th
grade – full court press will be allowed at any time during the game.
·
4th, 5th, and 6th
grade leagues – full court press is NOT allowed when a team is leading by 15 (or
more) points
9.
Basketball
·
The 28.5 size basketball will be used in
all games
10.
Uniforms
·
Reversible shirts are encouraged
·
Legal numbers include 1-5, 10-15, 20-25,
30-35, 40-45, 50-55
